Job Summary: To analyse requirements, document and formalise designs and work closely with a team of highly motivated individuals to develop applications in the following fields: Video delivery - Store and Forward, Streaming Live. Satellite applications - SCADA and custom media related applications. Embedded Linux applications. Given the nature of the applications Livewire develop, the position will include supporting and liaising with customers, attending trade shows and may involve extensive international travel. The candidate must be eligible to work in the UK, be free to travel internationally and it would be considered advantageous if the candidate has an EU driving license.
Company Information Livewire Digital is a leading provider of integrated data, voice and video services, delivering media and value added services to broadcasters, production facilities, government services and special interest groups. Livewire undertake the development of bespoke systems and R&D projects for companies like Inmarsat. A few of our achievements include;
Introduced commercial narrow-band live video via mobile satellite terminals. Pioneered store and forward techniques for compressed video services. Part of a ESA led consortium developing Multi-cast services over Inmarsat BGAN. Designed and supplied the first HD Media systems to the Volvo Ocean Race.
Skills and Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: A Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics or a related field.
Required knowledge: Object Oriented Analysis and Design Skills. Windows and Unix (MAC OSX/BSD or Linux) C/C++/Java/JNI. A good understanding of IP and associated protocols. Good inter-personal skills.
Beneficial knowledge: Satellite Services - Inmarsat, VSAT, DVBRCS. MPEG Audio and Video standards. Quicktime, DirectX/Directshow. Embedded Linux. Mac OSX. Hardware knowledge or hardware design skills. TTCN or associated testing methods. SQL Database / FileMaker
Experience:
Relevant projects as part of a degree course, industry or personal interest.
