44 fully-funded and match-funded PhD Studentships
This year, BU will be offering 44 fully-funded and match-funded PhD Studentships and an internal competition for project funding is currently in process. Funded projects will be advertised externally from 1 April 2012. Successful candidates will be engaged on projects in a range of disciplines and will receive a bursary of £14,000/year to cover their living expenses. Their tuition fees will be waived for 36 months and the research costs, including bench fees, field work and conference attendance will also be met.

60 Vice-Chancellor Doctoral (Fee Waive) Scholarships
We are also offering 60 Vice-Chancellor Doctoral (Fee Waive) Scholarships to outstanding candidates wishing to study with a particular supervisor or research team. The Scholarships will provide the opportunity for talented candidates to directly apply and develop their project in conjunction with their chosen supervisory team. These Scholarships provide a fee waiver only and will be allocated to applicants who can demonstrate they have sufficient funds to cover their living expenses. The research costs including bench fees, field work and conference attendance will be met. The Scholarship may be used to support either UK/EU or overseas candidates for full-time (and exceptionally part-time) study. Those with industry/business/government sponsorship are particularly encouraged to apply.
